He got dumped at a local boat yard a few nights ago. My neighbor saw him get tossed out of the van (but didn't manage to get a plate number). The neighbor called me immediately to see if I had room for a foster.
Julio is a one year old in tact male. He will be neutered, vaccinated, etc. very shortly (I am a vet tech). He is currently being fostered on a horse farm. It turns out he's just the sweetest dog in the world. He has a reliable recall and, if anything, is too happy to just be with people (I am constantly tripping over him). He has an excellent 'sit' and is learning a good down, stay, etc. He is very eager to please and learns quickly. He has been happily following the tractor around the farm, day in and day out. He is reliable both on and off leash. He crates, ties, and kennels. He will cry for about five minutes as he watches you walk away, but then settles down and is happy to be by himself. He appears to be totally house broken.
Julio has been great with everyone he has met so far. Love both men and women. He is good with other dogs and puppies. He submits to Herbie when she's a jerk. He is fine with cats, chickens, ducks, and horses of all sizes.
His favorite game in the world is playing with water shooting out of a hose.
Julio does NOT like car rides (can't blame him) or loud engines (like weed whackers or chain saws). Other than that, he seems really well adjusted.
I would love to keep Julio all to myself forever and ever. Unfortunately, Mike and I are currently apartment hunting. It's hard enough to find a place that will allow the one pit bull we already have. So, with a heavy heart, we are searching for a forever home for this lovely dog. He is located in NJ and while I would love to keep him local, I am happy to arrange transport for the right home.
Just spreading the word about a dog who has the potential to be an amazing advocate for the breed we all love.
